Bad Days happen to Good Intentions

Ever have “one of those days” that seem to go from bad to worse to are you kidding me no matter how positive and upbeat you are feeling? Did you feel overwhelmed with the tasks of the day stacked up against you?

You reach the break room and see someone has left a large pile of (insert your downfall snack here) with a note that says “help yourself”. You find yourself reaching for them as the voice in your head says “after the day I am having I deserve this” and you state you don’t care about breaking your rule of eating healthier foods.

Is there another way?  Say NO to breaking your rules for better health as you need to exert your will on this type of day when and where you can. Only then can look yourself in the mirror and say with all the challenges faced you stayed strong today in your goal to eat healthy and I are proud of yourself.

Quite possibly the next thought that comes in are the cherry trees in bloom that you took a moment to admire before your day took off into another challenging stage. Just like that you have reframed your day with the positive moment(s) you can grow on for tomorrow.

 Change Happens, Growth requires Action

Consider pausing on a good day and writing down some observations to help guide you along to a better path. During that day notice what you are thinking about, how you feel, the food you are eating and the actions you are doing.  Are you doing something for yourself or for others? Did the day involve interactions with others or were you alone?

Make note of anything you can directly link to your good day’s experience. Did your routine have an influence while you were getting ready for the day? The idea is to become a detective to your life’s good days. The more you can observe what steps were taken the better the chance you can repeat all or some of it to bring more moments and days like that into your life.

Remember your day does not have to be like (insert the name you think does things easier/better than you) in order to be your personal best. After all, we are all originals just like everyone is…Choose to assert more control over your life this week and be amazed at the growth taking place inside and out.

They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.
