Happy All the Time?

I was recently asked if there are times when I am not happy. The answer is yes there are moments and that is where choice comes in, my habit is to find the happy in any given situation.

Admittedly there are times the responses range from “I am glad this feeling will not last” or “I will be happy when this goes away” In order to Choose Happy  there must be times that are not happy and a choice is required to get to that outlook.

Have you ever heard the advice “just relax in a stressful situation?” Consider the speaker of the words is helping you and not adding gasoline to the fire of your emotions. It is known that a relaxed people suffer less injury in a crash than tense people.

Now consider the times when you find yourself doing a task without much conscious thought. Someone watching you might say “You make that look so easy” or ” I wish I could do that so well” Your reply would probably be to say that you have done it so much that it is easy for you and you just get into the “zone”.

So what happens when we put the last two thoughts together? Relax when you find yourself in a stressful situation and you will be doing something from the zone of confidence. What happens if you have not done the task before? Can you still use this advice?

When the  “How can I do this” thought occurs and doubts arise,  remember the similar tasks that you have done very well on that you can draw on for help. In time you may find yourself not stopping at the “how can I do this” phase and launch yourself into the task before you even realize you have never done this before. When those moments happen you know you were in the “zone” either by choice or habit.

So trust yourself more and when in doubt Choose Happy as your default state consistently and tasks both old and new will build up in the completed pile that much faster.
